B.EST – Building rESilienT communities in BiH

Increasing development through the strengthening of community participation in the management of environmental emergencies.

B.EST project aims to improve the resilience* of the communities and institutions of Bratunac, Modrica and Odžak, three municipalities located in the North-East of Bosnia and Herzegovina, affected by a severe flooding in May 2014, which has worsened the already precarious economic situation.
From a participatory process, aimed at developing a Local Action Plan for each municipality, we will define some priority actions to be implemented during the project.

(* In recent years, there is much talk of resilience and what it means. We adop the definition of Stockholm Resilience Centre: “Resilience is the capacity of a system, be it an individual, a forest, a city or an economy, to deal with change and continue to develop. It is about the capacity to use shocks and disturbances like a financial crisis or climate change to spur renewal and innovative thinking.“)
